The Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (SHAC) kicks off the year with a virtual online popcorn fundraiser from September 13th through September 19th as we support a local black business within our service area.

Mama Lee’s Gourmet Popcorn, owned by Christopher Sumner, has been operating at 20 South Spring Street in downtown Elgin, IL since 2015.  Mama Lee’s Gourmet Popcorn, currently, has three locations and is continuing to grow in the retail market.  You can order any of their poptastic flavors online and support our fundraiser., which offers 11 flavors and 3 sizes with great price points, starting at $8.00 for a small, $16.00 for a large, and $26.00 for a tub.

As they continue to expand their retail locations and enter corporate arenas, Mama Lee’s Gourmet Popcorn still desires to be a part of the community.  Loving popcorn since Christopher’s childhood is what stems his passion for perfecting his craft.  The popcorn store is fun, warm, and has an inviting atmosphere for all popcorn lovers who enter the shop.  Each recipe reflects upon the memories of his mother making her homemade popcorn recipe, and all of the wonderful feelings that came with being alongside her in kitchen continue to be his inspiration.

So, whether it’s “Give a hug Wednesday” or “Thankful Thursday,” Mama Lee’s is serving the community more than just popcorn, and SHAC is proud to partner with Mama Lee’s Gourmet Popcorn for our virtual fundraiser.  By supporting Mama Lee’s Gourmet Popcorn, you are not only are supporting a well-deserving local business, but you are also helping SHAC do great work in the community.
