Mark Hubbard & The Voices

Founded in 1985, Mark Hubbard & The Voices are a mainstay of the Black Gospel choir canon. The ensemble has shared the stage with such renowned artists as Aretha Franklin, Richard Smallwood, Donald Lawrence, Hezekiah Walker, Melba Moore, Tramaine Hawkins, Stevie Wonder, Yolanda Adams, Kurt Carr, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Beverly Crawford, Kim Burrell, and Karen Clark-Sheard. Their notable appearances include the Oprah Winfrey Show, Bobby Jones Gospel, The Chicago Gospel Music Festival, The Regal Theatre, and The Shanghai Spring International Music Festival in Shanghai, China.

A master of his craft, Mark Hubbard was only eight years old when he discovered a passion for choir-directing. He has devoted himself to music and ministry ever since. Under his direction, Mark Hubbard & The Voices have released five albums. Voice of a Survivor, their sixth album, will be released on HezHouse Entertainment. “For the Rest of My Life” is the second single from that body of work.

Mark Hubbard served two years (2017 – 2019) as Chicago Chapter President of The Recording Academy® The GRAMMYs, and now serves as Governor and Co-Chair for its Gospel Advisory Committee. In 2017, Mark formed Next Showcase USA, LLC, an artist showcase offering artists of all genres an opportunity to perform in front of industry professionals. Next Showcase USA, LLC provides artists an opportunity to learn what is necessary to move their careers to the next level, and begin making the contacts to do so. In August of 2021, Hubbard assembled the first Gospel choir to perform on the Lollapalooza stage in Chicago. The 40-person choir he put together – dubbed “Music in the Key of Chicago” – provided an exhilarating dose of uplifting sounds at the popular Grant Park event.

“Choir music is the music of our ancestors and music that the African American community has relied on throughout the ages…the sound is a rich part of African American history and the sound that all new sounds are built upon,” says Hubbard. “This is why I remain committed to choir music and to sharing my gifts and knowledge with the music industry and especially with young people. We have to keep this tradition alive and that means we have to sow into the next generation.”

DJ QuietStorm

As one of few female DJs in the Chicagoland area, DJ QuietStorm has always had a passion for music. During stressful times, she turns to music to relax. When she hears the music’s beat, she becomes mesmerized and lost in the sound. All her cares go out the window.

DJ QuietStorm developed an interest in becoming a DJ in her early 20s, when turntables and records were still being used. She purchased equipment in 2013, and as a self-taught DJ, honed her skills by learning from other industry DJs who graciously shared their experiences and answered questions.

Although DJ QuietStorm plays all genres of music, her favorites are House Music, Gospel House, Old School R&B, and Hip Hop. During the past 10 years, she has played primarily at private events, such as birthday parties, weddings, and retirement parties. Last year, she performed at a Black History Month program hosted by Elgin Senior Services, a not-for-profit organization that provides community members with access to benefits and programs. Most recently, she, along with several other DJs, played at the 1st Annual Black & Brown Music Fest in Elgin, IL. No matter what the event, she can provide the music.

DJ QuietStorm loves to create a feel-good atmosphere; one where everyone is having a good time. Her goal is to ensure everyone leaves the event feeling better than when they arrived.
